LizMary Mejia Julio is a dedicated attorney with extensive experience in both prosecution and

criminal justice system began in her hometown, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal
Justice and Psychology from Alvernia University in May 2017. Driven by her passion for the
complexities of criminal defense, Mrs. M went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of
the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law in May 2020.

During law school, Mrs. Mejia was an active member of several student organizations, including
the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, the Black Law Students Association, and

deep sense of community and service.

Throughout her legal career, Mrs. Mejia has gained valuable experience through roles at various
agencies, including the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in 2019 and the Public
Defender Service for the District of Columbia in 2016.

Assistant District Attorney with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. In this role, she
represented the city in a wide range of serious criminal matters, including firearms offenses,
narcotics cases, assaults, robberies, and attempted murders. Her ability to assess and develop
cases allows her to skillfully negotiate plea offers or advocate for clients at trial.

In addition to her criminal justice work, Mrs. Mejia has been a passionate advocate for immigrants. Her efforts include volunteering at the Tijuana border during the migration crisis
and providing services through the Central American Resource Center in Washington, D.C. Mrs.
